This is the kid’s breakfast set. Lovely, isn’t it?

Mainly consist of bread, fruits, vegetables and eggs. Nutritious and health-conscious.

Noodle :

Their noodle selections are Spinach 菠菜/Pumpkin南瓜/Buckwheat 蕎麥.

I was told that their curry does not use coconut milk, but organic oatmilk instead.

Green Curry Ramen （招牌青咖喱辣面- RM9.70)

Their green curry is sweet-based and non-spicy thus easily acceptable by kids.

Organic Lo Ramen (有機滷味拉麵– RM9.70)

I personally did not favour this dish. I think it’s too plain to stir up my appetite.

Organic Dry Ramen (有机干捞拉面 – RM9.70) – Buckwheat

I found this dish to be acceptable, surprisingly, partly due to its cider juice taste.

Organic Curry Ramen (有機咖喱拉麵 – RM9.70)

Excuse me, due to the unforseen idling time, the curry gravy dried up. In actual, this dish was quite a surprise to us when you could see the ‘coagulated pig’s blood’ served. What a great idea that their chef could think of!

There are also Oganic Tomyam Ramen (有机东炎拉面 – RM11.70), Organic Soup Ramen (有机清汤拉面 – RM9.70), Vege Bak Kut Teh Mee Sua (素肉骨茶面线 – RM9.70).
Tomato Spaghetti (番茄意大利麵– RM9.70)

The tomato paste was homemade, added with sweet basil and carrots. Not heavy and refreshing. Recommended!

STEAMBOAT :

Tomyam Steamboat (營養健康東炎火鍋 – RM17.70 -1 pax. RM27.70 -2 pax) served with brown rice.

This tasted like Kimchi-like steamboat to me. Sourish and a bit spicy.

You may also choose Nutritious Steamboat (营养健康火鍋RM15.70 – 1pax, RM25.70 – 2 pax) if you dislike sour spicy soup base.

The herbal soup is for brown rice bee hoon soup. It was cooked with white fungus, cabbages and wolfberries/goji berries (枸杞). Thick and heavy taste of herbs.

DESSERTS:

7 Colour Bean Paste (七色豆養生糊 – RM4.70)

The 7-colour beans are organic soy bean （有机黄豆）, organic pearled barley （有机薏仁）, organic white kidney bean （有机白肾豆）, organic Adzuki bean （有机红小豆）, organic mung bean （有机绿豆）, organic black bean green kernel （有机青仁） and ten multi-grains (十谷米).

Normally if I see so many grains and beans, I would expect this dish to be very difficult to swallow. But then surprisingly thisdish tasted just like another flavourful dessert!

Natural, Organic, Wellness Concept (天然, 有机, 养生）- This is the theme for ‘Malaysia 1st Wellness Education Restaurant’ （正食养生餐厅）called IDEALITE.

The FOUR essenses of IDEALITE food （生命阳光4大精神） :

No white sugar, white salt, MSG, gluten, synthetic coloring and preservatives.

Whole-grains, without meat.

Adopt low-temperature cooking method. No microwave.

Water is sterilized & filtered; fruits and vegetbales are washed with ozone machine to remove chemical and pesticide residues.

食在养生– Do not contain any fried ingredients. Healthy, nutritious and balance.

食在美味 – Contain lightly fried ingredients (using Pomace olive oil). Safe and delicous.

Use organic brown sugar, Himalaya rock salt, brown rice, ultraviolet filtered water, olive oil and grape seed oil.

Idealite 生命阳光 is located at Gottlieb Road, beside the Waterfall Hotel and The Little Cottage. Temporary only upstair is opened. We were told that by June the downstair will be grandly opened.

Signature Sesame Paste (招牌黑芝麻糊 – RM5.70)

The first question I threw out after I tasted the first spoonful of this sesame paste was, ” What blender do you use?” “ThermoMix.” “Hmm…….no wonder so smooth!” Frankly, I was deeply impressed ever since this first welcoming dish.

The ingredients of this signature dish consist of black sesame, cashew nuts, brown rice and organic brown sugar. They were finely blended and it’s more fragrant than what I have tasted elsewhere.

SET MEALS:

Dry Curry Set Meal (香辣乾咖喱套餐 – RM9.70)

Potatoes and sweet potatoes in spicy dry curry. Served with brown rice, salad, homemade tofu and fruits.

Eryngii Mushroom Set Meal (特色杏鮑菇套餐 – RM9.70)

This is one of their bestsellers. The eryngii mushroom was served with mild black pepper sauce.

There are other choices such as Curry Set Meal 香浓咖喱套餐(RM9.70), Lo Set Meal家乡卤味套餐 (RM9.70)， Vegetable Set Meal 蔬菜养生套餐 (RM9.70) and Steam Vege Set Meal ‘蒸’养生套餐 (RM9.70).

SIDE ORDERS:

SALAD:

Curry Tofu Salad (咖喱豆腐沙拉 - RM5.70)

Rich bean flavour infused within the curry yoghurt. The fermented bean taste was not easily acceptable but health-ensured. Their salad uses self-made mayo which consists of grape seed oil and soya bean.

You may also opt for other salads e.g. Sweet Sour Fruits Salad (RM5.70), Walnut Vege Salad (RM6.70) or Coral Salad with Yoghurt (RM6.70).

SIDE DISHES :

Vege Sushi (蔬菜壽司 – RM6.70)

Ingredients consist of yambean, papaya, carrot, cucumber, purple cabbage and lime juice. Wrapped with popiah sheet. I highly recommend this refreshing side dish.

Chee Cheong Fun (酵素珠常粉 – RM3.70)

The chee cheong fun was made by corn starch + vietnam rice + sago. No sweet prawn paste, but a salty paste made from seaweed mixed with ’secret recipe’ enzyme. We were told that guarantee no benzoic acid and peanut element (which is believed to contain 黄曲霉素 B2 (dihydroflatoxin b1; dihydroaflatozine b1) – one of the factors for liver cancer).

Seaweed Roll Sushi (紫菜寿司筒 ) -RM7.70

I strongly suggest those who dislike eating vegetables to try this. The crunchy bites of these seaweed roll sushi shall make you change.

Poh Piah ( 健康薄饼) – RM4.70

I found this dish to be normal. I believe the only attractive point is by looking at its embedded ‘healthy’ values.

Jade Seaweed Vege Sushi (白玉紫菜蔬菜壽司 – RM7.70)

This is another roll sushi dish that I found special. Colourful vegetables consist of lettuce, purple cabbage, carrot, yambean; wrapped with seaweed and ‘chee cheong fun’ sheet.

RICE:

Hakka Lei Cha (客家擂茶飯 – RM12.70)

I believe their Hakka Lei Cha was easily acceptable by the first-timers as I found that the pungent taste of thai basil was lessen in the soup.

You can find money leaves, carrots, dry bean curd, long beans, soya beans, cabbages and gingers served with brown rice.

You may also order Vege Bak Kut Teh (素肉骨茶 RM9.70 (1 pax), RM16.70 (2pax)) or Green Curry Rice (招牌青咖喱饭 RM9.70)。

To be continued…………

Before Chap Goh Meh, we a group of 10 pax managed to have a get-together lunch at Hei Yeong Seng.

I was told that the organizer that the chefs have been replaced thus the quality of their dishes have been improved. Indeed the verdict of this visit turned out to be satisfactory!

CNY Package (新春套餐) RM498++

鸿运齐捞生 （鱼生）Salmon Yee Sang

富贵展红图 （干贝蟹肉翅）Braised Crab Meat Shark’s Fin [My rating : 9/10]

I felt guilty for eating shark fin, but then to be frank, the taste of this dish was simply superb!

一团好和气 （海蜇花鸡仔）Deep Fried Spring Chicken with Jelly Fish [ My rating : 9.5 /10]

Everyone of us gave two-thumbs up to these deep fried spring chicken. The size of the spring chicken was rather small compared to those we had at seberang (bagan lalang) but then these spring chicken were a lot more outstanding in terms of delicacy. Non-oily texture with thin deep-fried skin.

年年都有余（香菜蒸红狮）Chinese Pickled Lettuce Steamed Fish [My rating : 8/10]

兴业齐股升（冬菇， 发菜， 蚝士， 鱼鳔， 西兰花， 海参）Fatt Choy Dried Oyster with Sea Cucumber, Fish Maw and Broccoli [My rating : 9/10]

春节笑眯眯（腰果美味虾）Sweet and Cashewnuts Prawns [My rating : 7/10]

福气满堂红（腊味饭）Steamed Fried Rice with Preserved Meat [My rating : 7/10]

步步又高升（炸年糕）Fried Rice Cake [My rating : 9/10]

Another surprise for me was these pandan-flavoured rice cakes. How I wish the serving size of these rice cakes could be doubled!

五彩迎缤纷（什果龙眼遮哩雪）Mixed Fruit Longan Jelly [My rating : 6/10]

This is a new restaurant at the corner shop lot after the Lorong Kampung Malabar, serving Thai & Nyonya cuisine.

Asam Pedas (RM8.00 – 2 fish) My rating : 8/10

This is an absolutely appetizing dish. It would be greater if heated with candle warmer during serving.

Thai Style Roast Chicken (RM11.00) My rating : 8/10

Spice- flavoured roast chicken, a good choice for those who like moist gravy type instead of dry belacan chicken.

Deep Fried Belacan Chicken (RM12.00) My rating : 7/10

YAW’S ROAST AND GRILL

Paiseh, now only is my first time paying visit to this restaurant which is formerly known as Top Top. It was an impromptu visit.

I guess if the restaurant is operating in a residential house, then I could assume the price to be reasonable?!

Luckily I managed to finish up my meal before the sky turned dark.

The garlic bread was so-so. No umph for me.

The mushroom soup in chicken pie style. Chicken pie’s ingredients were placed inside the soup instead.

Wo! Having this alone is enough to fill up my stomach already. Not an ordinary ‘soup’ but full of ingredients.

Chicken Maryland. I found it kinda impressive due to the absence of oiliness. *salute!*

I chose one item from the today’s special menu. Poached fish. Nah…..not to mention.

I have always voted Goh Huat Seng as my first choice whenever thinking of steamboat.

I like its traditional way of serving ingredients – really meant for steamboat. Not those ingredients from frozen or artificial seafood items or many other types of non-steamboat food like those all-you-can-eat types (or those with BBQ) of steamboat. I like its charcoal fragrance. Somemore I seldom turn thirsty after having steamboat at Goh Huat Seng.

We ordered the RM80 set with some add-ons.

Bird eggs and meat balls.

Cuttle fish and squids.

Fried ‘Fu Zhuk’ and chicken slices.

Fish balls and ‘kao chee’.

Pork kidney and liver.

We added the below items per request of some members :

enoki mushrooms and button mushrooms. (RM10)

I believe most of you should know the first sentence that come out from the staffs in this restaurant is,” Got to wait about 45 minutes (or longer) woh, can wait or not?”

Therefore if you really got the patience and time to wait, then only you sit. If not, I guess you will feel very warm sitting there. Well, perhaps even before that, you would have already been ‘warmed up’ by their greetings above.

Same like the Hock Chuan Heang nearby, the kochabi style of dishes are served.

Char Tang Hoon / Fried Bean Noodles

Lots of ingredients, as you can see. Of course, you could taste the heavy seasonings that have been put in order to spice up the flavour of plain tang hoon.

The ‘Oh Chien’ (Fried Oyster) is the crispy style. This one that we ordered have added prawns and oysters. Yummy indeed!

Fried Noodles

One thing which I don’t like is the alkaline taste 碱水（kansui）of the noodles in this dish. I normally don’t experience such heavy strong alkaline taste in other restaurants. This one is simply too significant! I guess you could order noodles mixed with rice vermicelli to ease the undesirable taste. *Luckily we were hinted upfront*

Sin Lean Heang is located at Goh Tiau Lor (5th Street), at the base of the flats, opposite the school at Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Li Tek ( (丽泽A/B校) at Pangkalan Weld, 10300 P.Pinang.

Choon Piah. Impressive, crispy (but not shattering) and full of ingredients. I believe this is their signature dish.

Curry Fish Fillet. Hainanese style with sweet and sour curry gravy.

The curry is too tempting. We finished the whole bowl bottom up!

Lak Bee Soup (六味汤）. This is the only dish that disappointed me. I couldn’t taste the ‘lak bee’ herbs.

Reasonably charged with satisfactory standard. I shall come again!

A group of us finally managed to get together for the last round before 2011 ends.

When one of us suggested to have Kampachi Japanese Buffet, the most impressive item that I could think of is its SASHIMI!

Priced at RM65++ (Note : CIMB card provides 10% discount)

Let’s refresh what kinds of dish varieties available there. What being captured below did not represent the whole, some items were not taken.

Sashimi

See? Thick slices of fresh salmon, no chiak-khau at all! After all these years, they still remain generous.

Unfortunately the one that I like most- Hokkigai (Ark Shell) sashimi is always not in the buffet stream. :p

Sushi choices.

Soba & Udon.

Tofu

Fish in soup.

Octopus.

Tempura.

Japanese pizza, 铜锣烧 and fishballs.

Fried beef and salmon. We let go sukiyaki.

Fried noodles.

Dessert

I was impressed by its red bean soup with mua chee.

Assorted cakes and pastries. The one that I like the most is the one at bottom left.

Ice cream. To be frank, I still do not like their green tea ice cream. It’s too sweet. I prefer those with slight bitter taste. I guess the coffee flavour is the one that most of us like.

Lastly, after all these years, I am still ‘not fit’ enough for buffet. I like the idea of tasting one / a few of each kind, only.
