One of the Lao Jee Hoe (老字号）restaurants in Penang.

Back in August, my super keng record – visited Yee Heong three times within 10 days!

The variety of dishes in Yee Heong allows me to order different dishes everyday and yet it won’t repeat. What’s more important is its price is very affordable (or cheap) yet food quality is above average! 掂啊！平靓正！

菜干汤 （Choy Kon Tong）RM6.00. One of the lou for tong (老火汤）that I would not miss ordering if the soup of day happens to be this one.

咸鱼蒸猪肉（Salted Fish Steamed Minced Meat) RM8.00

Five Stars Restaurant （五星冷气餐厅） @ Lebuhraya Batu Lanchang

它是一间不起眼的餐厅，但它的煮炒菜肴十多年来始终没让我失望过。

Five Stars is a restaurant operating for more than ten years. It has yet to disappoint me even the most recent visit.

Fried potato leaves (Char Huan Tzu Hiok) (RM6)

I was still ‘hmm fun hei’ over the RM8 plate of fried potato leaves served by Teik Seng two days ago before I came to this FIVE STARS. The fried potato leaves (Char Huan Tzu Hiok) served here is  triple in volume and guess what?! It’s priced at RM6 ONLY! MAKAN PUAS-PUAS!  :p

I love this dish since day one I tried!
The price has been revised from RM16.xx to RM17.80 now. 5% service charge applies.

The presentation may look pretty bland BUT… please don’t judge the book by its cover.

Nowadays the soup tends to be less pepperish compared to last time.

The rice noodle is smooth like our ‘laksa noodles’.

Pocket Mouse RM4.80. Inside is salted egg paste.

Take a bite and peep inside – Oh, shark fin, crab meat and scallop slices.

Hmm……now I can compare since I have tasted this one and the Dragon-i one. This one is less salty and less ‘sandy” than the Dragon-i one. Over here the skin is white (vs yellow for dragon-i) and the bun size is smaller.

It’s yummy!

I like to order hot drink and it is served in this ‘soup’ cup. Behind is the Fizzylemon Ribena (RIBENA with lemon). Now I’ve learnt this recipe and apply it at home too!
