Half Day Trip at Balik Pulau

Half Day Trip at Balik Pulau

I had a casual outing one of the Sundays in July.

We a group of four visited A&A who stayed at Balik Pulau. We were brought to savour food at Balik Pulau and visited some places there, including hopping from one housing project / show house to another in between stops.

Laksa at Eric’s place. This is an eye-catching spot that you won’t miss paying attention to it while passing by.

Plus 2 Restaurant (加二餐厅)云吞面档 Good meh?!

This is a restaurant that gains wide popularity among USM students and some FIZ workers due to its location and price.

Their price for wanton noodles has been revised since 1st May.

Wanton Noodles : RM3.00, RM3.50, RM3.80
Wanton soup : RM4.00, RM6.00, RM8.00
Shui kao  soup RM 1.20 (1 pc), RM6, RM12, RM18

This is RM3.50 serving. This is the look of their wanton noodles. Attractive? Not for me.

I would have got better ones elsewhere with price still below RM3.00. [...]

Opposite Padang Brown's Bak Kut Teh

Opposite Padang Brown's Bak Kut Teh

This is the so called famous bak kut teh which is located at Jalan Perak, opposite the Padang Brown (same row with SONY, Klinik Singapore and ‘Pakar Urut Only One’).

I was not really impressed with the soup base but I can tell you that I was truly impressed by their fast and efficient ways of serving the food and entertaining your needs.

Credits are given on : 1) fast in ushering you for seats and taking your order. 2) as soon as your bak kut teh claypot is served and within 5 min, they already top up the soup for me (!). 3) their work segregation is very good, systematic, no kelam-kabut. Each one is dedicated to his own job responsibility.

The yam rice is very moist. I like it.

A claypot for two persons is RM16. FYi, charging per head is RM8.

I was impressed with the variety of ingredients stuffed inside the claypot too!! [...]

There are a lot of Koay Theow Thng stalls stretching from Carnavon Street to Transfer Road. This is the one with duck blood served which I go for when the Ah Hor one is not open or too many customers(!).  This is one of those few kopitiams that is clean and comfortable to enjoy a bowl of koay theow thng, somemore it’s served fast.

The below one is priced at RM4.00, large bowl with additional duck meat.

Ingredients are : chicken meat, duck meat, fish balls, meat balls and innards.

六哩香吧生肉骨茶

六哩香吧生肉骨茶 (Liu Li Xiang Bak Kut Teh)

Compared to the rest of Dry Bak Kut Teh that I have tried before, I found that this one lacks of kong pou flavour, rather sweet instead.

Yam rice – of course it could not any better than those authentic Yam Rice version @ Chai Leng Park. [...]
