Malacca – Heng Hainanese Chicken Rice Balls (興海南雞飯糰)

The next day so happened driving past this area and surprisingly saw the Heng was OPENed! Of course we quickly rushed into this restaurant lah.

Pic on top showing 1st day pi, ‘NO OPEN’ . Outside there’s a note stating they gonna close for a few days.
Pic at bottom showing 2nd day pi, ‘sitting inside the restaurant already’.

Now I have finally tasted the genuine chicken rice balls. This one tasted definitely thousand times better! Unlike the one that we had the day before, the rice ball here is soft and fragant, padat padat one, (takda sang sang one tau?!), tasted good even without dipping any sauces.

The pak zham kai tasted average.

I was more impressed with the cabbage. Such a simple dish tasted so good and ‘crunchy’ when served hot.

Another impressive item is this Black Bean Soup. RM2 each bowl. GOOOOOOOOD ah!!!!!!
Total bill RM18.00 including drinks. Reasonable uh?!

My Malacca Food Hunt

My Malacca Food Hunt

I remembered my last visit at Foh San Dim Sum (富山香港點心茶樓) was a wonderful meal.

This time, the Har Kow is still BIG and stuffed with FRESH shrimps. No suk shui. :)

Upon arriving Malacca town, we headed for that Heng Hainanese Chicken Rice Balls but ended up, NO OPEN LEH! :( Aiyoyoh…..do you ppl know how many twists and turns and GOSTAN BALIKs we got to make uh in order to find the exact location?! The roads there all one way street one leh. Adui!!!! Sooooo tui sim kua!

We ended up at Famosa Chicken Rice Ball @ Jalan Bendahara.

Yee…..don’t know whether if it’s late afternoon already(?!) the rice balls and chicken / duck all seemed to be not as nice as I could think of. Pretty plain, not as delicious as we expected.

In the evening we bumped into this Malacca Cendol at another branch of Famosa @ Jonker Street.

RM3 per bowl. Hmm….this one was good! Very rich in gula melaka taste. A real thirst quencher during hot weather.

Satay Celup! We were told so, “You ppl must go and try that satay celup! Go early otherwise got to queue long time.”

OK we went! Aiyoyoh…… LOK LOK hor?! Say lah earlier. I thought it’s one kind of satay bakar pula!

Later only realized haha! Go to wrong shop liao lah! The famous one is another few lots away lah, named CAPITOL !

Oooooooolong hor?! :p

“Hey, here’s another one that you must try out k!” Nigel (http://www.tripadvisor.com/) pointed this restaurant to me when we walked out from Edelweiss during the 2nd flogger gathering. I waved back at him,”Definitely! I will!”

That’s how my 3rd day of Deepavali holiday ended up here.

Hainan Kopi (海南咖啡)

Jiu Hu Bang Kuang Char – very RICH aroma of jiu hu loh, I find it a bit beh tahan. :)

海南鴨芋 – Can you see how thick the gravy is?! :) Serving with rice is of coz VERY good lah!

Rice served in coconut shells (but no coconut smell :) )

海南海鮮春卷 – hmm….. strong taste too.
海南 curry fish -this curry is richer compared to Shing Kheang Aun Restaurant one.

Nah….see how rich this curry is? This is definitely a lot better than that The Hainan Town (which we had during our 1st flogger gathering) loh! *this is my personal liking, no offense k*

I find that the food here is more towards 重口味 (strong taste).

The two bowls of dessert 黑糯米 (Or Zhu Bi) with yam flavoured ice cream were given to us free of charge. Perhaps HE wanted me to have a complete set of lunch meal since he kept on seeing me shooting photos on its dishes. :)

I believe the bill should be not less than RM60. People belanja mah, don’t get jealous har. :)

Operating Hours : 11.30 am – 3.00 pm, 6.00pm – 10.00pm (Close on Thursday)

老字號, 還需多費口水介紹嗎? :)

If you are not ordering their Hainanese Curry Tao Teh, then you don’t have to be yuk chek at the price when you foot the bill. Easily kao tim by less than RM50 for 4x.

Restoran Hai Nan Town

A flogger gathering was held here.

10x attendees were:What2See, Lingzie, Buzzing Bee,Penang Tua Pui, Criz Lai and Gourmet Garden .

I ended up being a person who ‘yao sek, yao lor, yao leng’ (又食,又’儸’,又拎). * pai seh nia*

Left : QEII. Right : yacht pier.

You may skip this portion(!)

OK, continue to read this portion. :)

Ritz green tea cake has always been my top 1 favourite although I am not a 蛋糕痴. Do you know what kind of feeling it was when I knew that it was a greentea cake from Ritz?! “Wah….so nice leh to have ppl who appreciate the same food like you!” Kam tong ah!!!

It’s very paiseh but special loh to celebrate ngao yat with a group of ‘strangers’ (of coz now they no longer considered so :) ).

It’s ‘something‘ in my life path! *wink*
