Dragon-i Restaurant @ Queensbay

On 13th Dec I had a pretty bad food allergy after eating at this place. I must bring along face mask in my handbag for whichever place I go from now onwards!

羅漢 扒豆腐 (Sauteed Beancurd with Assorted Mushroom) RM18 ++ . I dun think this is the cause.

黑椒雞柳 炒拉麵 (Fried La Mian with Black Pepper Chicken) RM15 ++ . This one may be as it’s ‘spicy’ after eating halfway through.

臘腸北菇滑雞蒸飯 (Steamed Rice with Chicken, Mushroom & Chicken Sausage) RM15 ++ . I no eat this.

響螺紅棗燉杞子湯 (Double Boiled Lean Pork Soup with Conch Meat) RM18 ++. This one also may be? A concentrated soup with essence of SEAFOOD? Can meh?

多芒小丸子西米露 (Glutinous Rice Ball in Mango Juice with Extra Mango) RM10 ++ . I no eat this coz already become super red with jumbo nose!

Come on! Saturday somemore got to work leh! That’s why we treated ourselves at Canton-i for a ‘high-ca’ lunch last Saturday.

This time we got the chance to sit at the VIP area (nah, VIP simply because we came in a group of 10 pax lah! )

Hmm…this ceiling lighting is elegant but too dark for us to see properly what stays in our bowls.
I wonder if the similar one found at that SouthBay show unit’s living room would be that dim too?!

The porridge remains the safest dish to order. The best still out of all.

順德鱗魚球粥 (RM11.80) Carp Fish Balls & Lettuce Congee .

皮蛋瘦肉粥 (RM10.80) Salted Lean Meat & Century Egg Congee . Do not add anymore soya sauce ha!

北菇滑雞粥 (RM11.80) Braised Soya Sauce Chicken with Congee. The ‘wak kai’ is true, really ‘wak’!!


滷水蛋豆腐 (RM6.80) Teochew-style Marinated Beancurd and Egg. Not as fragant as the local hawkers one.

If you can accept their noodles, then noodle dishes could be your better choice if you don’t mind paying triple price of what you can get elsewhere. *wink*

If you want to have a filling meal with minimal spending at Canton-i, the roasted meat rice dishes below is is a good choice!

燒味雙拼飯 (RM12.80) Two Combinations of Roast Meat with Plain Rice
( Roast Duck, Honey-glazed Roast Pork, Roast Pork Belly, Roast Chicken, Soya Sauce Chicken, Cuttlefish).

叉燒 + 燒南 (Char Siew + Siew Nam)

燒鴨 +叉燒 (Siew Ngap + Char Siew)

招牌蛋塔 (RM5.00) Egg Tart. Qualified to be named as their ‘chiew pai’ egg tart loh.

Canton-i menu is completed with their very ladylike desserts, just like their interior decoration.

鮮橙燉蛋 (RM8.00) Double-boiled Egg and Orange Custard

山水豆腐花 (RM3.00) Tau Fu Far

Double Good Hong Kong Style Roasters (好好飯店港式燒臘飯店) @ Lintang Batu Maung.

Double Good has set its footprint at Batu Maung on 21st Jul at the ex- Fu Hao‘s premise. It is now having a opening promotion till 27th Jul – every chicken dish will be sold at RM1.80 only!

Roast Chicken w/Rice (香港燒雞飯) normal price @ RM2.80 (now @ RM1.80).

Basically the price range for rice set is RM2.80 – RM7.50. Got chicken, duck and BBQ pork. Of course there are combo varieties such as twin mixed, triple mixed and etc. If you wanna order roasted meat alone in one big plate to be shared among friends or colleauges, you can opt for their combo mixes which range from RM12- RM24.

Noodle set price range is RM4.00 – RM8.00.
Roasted Chicken Drumstick Noodle 燒雞腿面 (RM5) -The drumstick has been chop-ready for you therefore I couldn’t find the SHAPE of my drumstick liao leh! *Waaaaaaaa~~~!!!!*

Under SNACK, got curry fish, thai style laksa, curry chicken, onion egg, beancurd, sotong, softshell crab, mantis prawn, vegetables and etc. Therefore one can actually order these dishes like at zhu char also loh!

This time our meal turned out to be rather OK due to ‘experience’ learnt from the past visit. I believe one will need to pay more visits to narrow down their safe-to-order dishes uh?!

Roasted Pork (叉燒皇) RM16. This time we were served half fatty half lean. PERFECT ah! This is of course far better than the last visit when it’s served as mainly lean.

Stir fried Pepper Udon (黑椒雞炒烏冬) RM16. I like this dish as it’s not sheer pepper taste like normal fried pepper udon served elsewhere. Somemore the udon texture was just nice, the inner part was not too hard and the outer part was not too soft either! BUT then….RM16….CKA!

Mango Glutinous Dessert (香芒糯米茲) RM6. I was impressed that it uses mango slices as stuffing, NOT mango cream. BUT one bite is RM2. Wahlau….. CKA !

Finally I was able to taste their soup already!

With so many ingredients stuffed in one such small pot, of course it’s super tasty lah!

One piece of fish maw found inside the pot. I wanna cook this type of soup too!

Canton-i really attract streams of customers non-stop one hor eventhough it’s weekdays. I was curious to know how come so many customers keen to go back again and again eventhough the price is ‘HK standard’ leh?

Soya Bean 豆漿 (RM3.50) & HK-style Ice Lemon Tea 凍檸檬紅茶(RM5.50). The lemon tea is a real typical HK style, tasted like our Nestea, pao puk puk one (diluted type). The soyabean tasted exactly like typical Vitasoy too. :p

At this moment I suspected there was a durian smell kinda dish being served on the tables behind. I pusing pusing 180% left and right but couldn’t find where that smell came from? Canton-i got durian dishes kah?! Anyone has tried it before?

We wanted to order the conch soup but then that weekday they only got 1 type of soup, lotus root. Har??? why leh?????

Honey-glazed Roast Pork 招牌叉燒皇 (RM16.00). This one was good but not as GOOD as I thought loh. The caramelized part was mou tak teng but not enough for tam chiak kaki like us *. Since their cutting was slightly thicker therefore one got to put more effort in chewing when comes to those non-fatty or ‘siap siap’ part.

Pork Intestine Congee 狀元及第粥 (RM9.80). Very well-brewed congee, soooo fine and smooth. All the ingredients were cleaned properly (no *shit* leftover) and also ‘chewable’. That’s why I heard people keep recommending their congee dishes huh?!

The Sui Kao is very SOLID one oi, stuffed with prawn, waterchestnut, black fungus and minced meat BUT I really beh tahan with its saltiness loh!

Sweetened Ground Peanut Puree 香滑花生糊 (RM6.00). Smooth thick paste rich in ground peanut fragance. If got one or two little tiny buns or man tou(?) to go along then would be verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry good lah!

The dishes served in Canton-i are indeed very HONG KONG style. The whole interior decoration is also elegant, brightly lighted, neat and clean. The menu covers sooooooo many types of dishes, no wonder people can keep on pong chan lah. The waiters are wearing smartly but I don’t quite like their costume for the waitresses loh.
