Continued from My beloved Yee Heong (宜香茶樓飯店) – 日日帮衬都不厌!(Part 1)

马来风光(Fried Kangkung with Sambal Belacan) RM6.00. This one is not comparable with the Hai Onn one as this one is without sambal belacan style.

My beloved Yee Heong (宜香茶樓飯店) – 日日帮衬都不厌!(Part 1)

One of the Lao Jee Hoe (老字号)restaurants in Penang.

Back in August, my super keng record – visited Yee Heong three times within 10 days!

The variety of dishes in Yee Heong allows me to order different dishes everyday and yet it won’t repeat. What’s more important is its price is very affordable (or cheap) yet food quality is above average! 掂啊!平靓正!

菜干汤 Choy Kon Tong)RM6.00. One of the lou for tong (老火汤)that I would not miss ordering if the soup of day happens to be this one.

咸鱼蒸猪肉(Salted Fish Steamed Minced Meat) RM8.00

椰香鱼片 Coconut Fish Fillets (RM8.00). This one is very appetizing with santan’s fragance. [...]

Viva Dim Sum (東 城 點 心) (Invited Review)

Last Sunday (8.8.10) a pre-opening invited review was extended to us at the ex-Sea Horse food court, beside Penang Chinese Swimming Club. It has now changed its name to Viva Local Food Haven (東 城 饮食中心).

This Viva Dim Sum (東 城 點 心) serves Hong Kong style dim sum which you can find their varieties as illustrated below.

A graphic illustration showing you the correct way to eat xiao long bao. This will ensure that one will not waste any drops of juice from the xiao long bao.

Each dim sum is listed down in their order list with sizes.

RM 2.80 (S), RM 3.80 (M), RM 4.80 (L). [If it's stated L means it is RM4.80 for that item.]

(L) 特制流沙包 (Steamed Bun With Butter Cream & Salted Egg Yolk)

Ingredients : 咸蛋,奶油,奶粉。 Their version comes with less salted egg therefore it is smoother and less sandy, more comfortable to throat while consuming even after eating two pieces. The inner custard cream liquidity is perfect. Advice : consume while serving hot.

凤眼带子饺 (RM5.80) . This is one of the new items. Each one comes with prawn, scallop and fish roe.  Refreshing and teeth-bouncing!

Farewell Meal No. 1 : Jade Blossom

Farewell Meal No. 1 : Jade Blossom

Jade Blossom @ Krystal Point

This meal was treated by 蕭先生. Total 5 of us, the other 4 ‘poon tiuk’. :)

They asked me to zha fit. Inside my brain, “Hohoho!! Cham liao them, I will order all CHENG CHENG TEI, VEGE and SOUP dishes!”

Soup of the day (Lao ti mun soup). One serving each.

Braised Beancurd. Homey cook.

Steamed Ang Sai (with sugar cane & black fungus)

I found that this sugar cane + black fungus combination is kinda special thus I ordered it. Hmm..not bad leh!

Four Season Beans. Simple and cukup lembik.

Shiong Tong Yun Choy (Another soup dish! with VEGE! Haha! )

Mango Duck. Surprise is there but not that keen after having 2 to 3 pcs. Perhaps due to the oiliness of the duck.

Salted Egg Prawns. I had only one piece. Argh!! My throat was immediately filled with ‘sandy’ salted egg paste. What a bad choice.

My allergic level : 2/5 (suspect from the salted egg prawn)

Jade Blossom Peking Roasted Duck Set

11 Feb

Jade Blossom Peking Roasted Duck Set

Jade Blossom Peking Roasted Duck Set with add-on ‘Yee Sang’ (RM656+ per table of 10 pax)

Our organizer (Mdm F) booked Jade Blossom for CNY Reunion Lunch. 60 pax. The whole restaurant was full house (not only our team but other groups were also having reunion lunch / farewell sort of gathering). The serving was damn slow.

Yee Sang
Seriously I never like Yee Sang as it’s sweet, ginger-like taste and artificial. The only item I like is the salmon. Ha!

Braised Shark’s fin Soup with Eight Treasure.
I was too hungry to find out what the eight treasure are. The ingredients are abundant. Generally it tasted mild and fair. Of course it couldn’t beat the sharkfin soup from Starview lah. Nope, I should not even mention shark fin at all as we are suppose to boycott eating it huh?!

Special ‘Yam Ring’ Five Hot & Cold Combinations.
I was a bit shocked when seeing this ‘hot and cold combo’ being served. Why? All the five items seem to belong to the same family or category. They tasted equally good though. I couldn’t figure out which is hot as they all tasted ‘cold’ to me. :)

Traditional Peking Duck
That is what this lunch aiming for! Personally I think it is superb by eating it alone, the crispy roasted skin. Why? coz I found that the wrapper is actually kinda thick and lack of fragance, basically tasteless. I still prefer the Dragon-i one.

We actually waited anxiously for the roasted duck meat to be served a little while later in other dish but TOO BAD! It’s served in the last second dish! :)

Steamed Garoupa Fish with Pineapple and Yellow Bean Sauce
A very unique sauce, with pineapple and yellow bean. The fish is big in size, hmmm……..like that then only we won’t complain hor?! :)

Assorted Sea Cucumber in Casserole
My favourite dish has come!!! I like every item in this dish!

Stir-fried Minced Scallop and Shrimps in Golden Cup
I was again shocked to see this is considered ONE DISH by itself! Adui! It seemed to be …… too petite, not ‘grand’ enough?!

Fried Rice with Diced Roasted Duck
This is the second last dish that swept me by surprise! I have never had fried rice that tasted so great in a 8-course set meal. It is not oily, a bit moist with ‘mum’ feel! The fried rice is somemore favoured by the roasted duck (which we had peking duck skin just now).

Sweet Soup with Taro and Pumpkin Glutinous Balls

I was greedy, expected to have glutinous rice balls with fillings. Nope, I didn’t get any. :)

Each of us forked out RM72.
