continue from Part I on Haven Delights @ Penang Times Square (Invited Review)
Korean Beef Kimchi 韓式泡菜牛片 (RM16) – Fried homemade kimchi with beef slices. [ My rating : 9/10]
I personally think that this one was great. The beef was cooked till tender (very important factor for me) and the kimchi was not just plain sour+spicy taste. The kimchi was mainly in soft leafy version with beef flavour(!) as well. I have had much more slices than I supposed to have
(Allergic phobia mah, remember?!).

Homemade Spicy Chicken 家香辣味雞 (RM15) – Fried chicken with homemade spicy sauce. [ My rating : 5/10]
This deboned chicken was fragance-rich but rather spicy. The most spicy dish of the night was still ‘acceptable’ for me, hehe! How lucky I was heh?!

Shanghai Honey Spare Ribs 蜜香排骨 (RM18) – Fried spare ribs with honey sauce. [ My rating : 5/10]
It turned out to be the saltiest dish of the night. The spare ribs’ texture was pretty well done but one doubt I had in mind – why didn’t I taste the honey and why was it so salty?

Tempura Cheese Maki – This is CHEF’S SPECIAL SURPRISE for us! [My rating : 9.5/10]
This one was a GREAT one! I truly enjoyed this maki! It’s rolled with prawn, fried unagi and topped with cheese mayo.

Look at this! Could you believe that it’s not YUMMY?!

Chicken Bomb – This is not a successful attempt by the chef in order to bring us surprise. I do hope that they can either remove this dish or improve this dish.

This was actually a chicken layer stuffed with black pepper salmon flakes (I couldn’t taste that it’s actually salmon until I was told the actual ingredient!). Both of these ingredients were too ‘meaty’, didn’t jive into each other. It tasted rather weird.

HK Style Wan Than Mee (RM22) – [My rating 5/10]
I am a person who is very into wanton mee. I order wanton mee spontaneously wherever places I go.
The noodles were great, still remained its springiness even after soaking in the xiong tong (上湯) for kinda long. The vege was great. The soup base was great too.
The problem lies on the wanton. It’s stuffed with minced prawns in sotong paste. Therefore when you first bite on it, the first thing that flushed into your mind was “How come like this one? Is it ‘not-fresh’? Why the texture so lembik?! (in actual the ingredients used were very fresh but due to usage of sotong paste therefore it’ turned out not ‘crunchy’ at all (unlike those with water chestnut).

Japanese Yaki Udon 炒烏冬面 (RM12) -Fried Japanese rice noodles with bonito flakes. [My rating : 6/10]
The udon was OK per the second serving. It’s drier and more towards the actual fried udon version but still I dislike the “loong mei” (burnt taste).

Macha Ice Cream 抹茶冰淇淋 (RM8) – Green tea ice cream with red bean paste. [My rating : 9.5/10]
I like its green tea ice cream which tasted STRONG in green tea flavour therefore it gave a bit ‘bitterness’ in actual, not plain sugary. With red bean paste in combination, it’s definitely a perfect match! The plain mua chee placed at the side was good for people who enjoy to have something to chew. You could see the ‘sum see’ (心思) put in this dessert.

Kuru Goma Ice Cream 黑芝麻冰淇淋(RM8) – Black sesame seed ice cream with crushed peanuts. [My rating 9/10]
Rich in black sesame seed taste. Combined with crushed peanuts tasted even more awesome! Wow..their ice creams all were very good indeed!

It’s a wonderful night to dine in Haven Delights. Given the opportunity to taste so many dishes, I believe it now has given me ‘confidence’ enough to step into Times Square for trying out Haven Delights’ buffet menu or more dishes on their Ala-Japanese and Shanghai/HongKong cuisines.
