Dragon-i Chinese New Year Meal

Last Friday at Dragon-i (龙的传人). Pook tiuk ah Taukeh Ong belanja one! :)

CNY is already over but this CNY menu is still valid until end of Feb.

Dragon-i has changed its entire menu.  Wow~ ! The new ala carte menu carries more “umph” ~!

金装三文鱼鱼生
Prosperity Salmon Yu Shang

The young waiter read out loud to us the meaning when tearing and pouring each packet (including salmon) onto the dish.

龙飞凤舞(人参药材鸡)
Double-boiled Chicken with Ginseng and Cordycep Flower ( Half Chicken ) [...]

Shanghai Ding “Yun Nam” Rice Noodle – My favourite!

Shanghai Ding “Yun Nam” Rice Noodle – My favourite!

Shanghai Ding @ Persiaran Bayan Indah,Queensbay (The road entering Eastin Hotel’s entrance)

I love this dish since day one I tried!
The price has been revised from RM16.xx to RM17.80 now. 5% service charge applies.

The presentation may look pretty bland BUT… please don’t judge the book by its cover.

Fish slices, ginger slices and wolfberries.

Nowadays the soup tends to be less pepperish compared to last time.

The rice noodle is smooth like our ‘laksa noodles’.

Pocket Mouse RM4.80. Inside is salted egg paste.

Shanghai’s Juicy Meat Dumplings RM6.80 (4 pcs)

Superior Juicy Meat Dumplings RM14.40 (4 pcs)

During the next visit…
“Hey, order wrong already hor?” Haha, true! Never mind, try out and see how superior it is!

Take a bite and peep inside – Oh, shark fin, crab meat and scallop slices.

奶黃流沙包 Steamed Egg Yolk Custard Bun RM4.80 (3pcs)

Hmm……now I can compare since I have tasted this one and the Dragon-i one. This one is less salty and less ‘sandy” than the Dragon-i one. Over here the skin is white (vs yellow for dragon-i) and the bun size is smaller.

It’s yummy!

I like to order hot drink and it is served in this ‘soup’ cup. Behind is the Fizzylemon Ribena (RIBENA with lemon). Now I’ve learnt this recipe and apply it at home too! :)

奶黃流沙包 from Dragon-i

奶黃流沙包 from Dragon-i

奶黃流沙包 Steamed Egg Yolk Custard Bun @ Dragon -i (ta pao)

A bunch of us missed the taste of 奶黃流沙包 (Nai Huang Liu Sha Bao) since our last poon-tiuk lunch at Dragon-i two weeks ago. Therefore last Friday we not only talk, but action also! Order loh!

Three buns cost RM6.00++ = RM6.90 nett. CKA!!!
Seriously, this is my first time seeing their take-away bag. Sua par kow hor?!

How big it is? Nah…small only.

Packed nicely, three buns in one container. But…..er…..not that eco-friendly hor?

The skin is sooooo thin!

The take away version is not as steaming hot as the ones we had on the spot at Dragon-i. Those we had there easily 噴奶 (splashing custard cream)!

Therefore the 噴奶 ratio of this take-away ones is about one out of three (1/3).

Top is thin. Bottom nest is thick.

Don’t be greedy. One to two buns is ngam ngam hoe. Three is max. If more what happen? You will start to feel jilak or your throat will be coated with the custard cream flavour loh!

Dragon-i The Curve

Dragon-i The Curve

Dragon-i @ The Curve

The trip was meant for IKEA only (one and half days short trip) thus two days consecutively having meals at The Curve made me even more pek chek! :)

At The Curve, all those “NOT AVAILABLE” items in Dragon-i Penang Queensbay become “AVAILABLE”. SYIOK!

The only drawback is the whole restaurant seemed to be rather warm. :(

香菇麵筋拉麵 (RM13++). Cheng cheng tei, so ngam me! I hunger for vege badly after having so much meat at the Ying Ker Lou the day before. I will order this again when back to Queensbay!

花旗參冬瓜燉雞湯 (RM16++). Due to the allergy phobia, that’s how this soup (CHICKEN) comes about. :) I couldn’t live without soup!

臘腸北菇滑雞蒸飯 (RM15++) . This is the item which is permanently stated as ‘N/A’ at Queensbay branch. Hmm….this one really takes much longer waiting time than the rest. 滑雞wak kai very wak, just like the Canton-i type of wak kai dishes.

四季豆薯子燜魚片 (RM15++). They are matching so well, one can eat both fish and vege at the same time. Sweet in taste.

楊枝金露 (RM10++). Unlike the ShangHai Ding one, this one is sour instead. Yes, I like anything to do with Mango to be sour.
