During the first week of August, I was treated at these two restaurants which I found out to be under my expectation.

Firstly, it is Tsuruya Japanese Restaurant @ E-Gate.

The set dinner menu is full of meat (chicken, pork and beef) dishes. I couldn’t find something more towards tempura-sashimi combination type that attracted me. The mix and match choices are not versatile enough, compared to other Japanese restaurants. 我接受唔到囉! All of us had a pretty hard time in deciding which item to order.

Nabe Kaisen Kimuchi Tofu Set (Claypot Kimuchi Tofu with Seafood) RM28

80% tofu with limited seafood items. If not mistaken, er……..only clams?!

Kushi Katsu & Kare Raisu Set (RM26) [...]

I was impressed by Chikuma when it was first opened back in 2007 . During its opening promotional month, every item in the menu was so cheap that it created a stir of ‘hoohah’ in our circle of friends.

Now it has moved from Gembira Parade, Island Glades to Sunway Tunas. You wouldn’t know how glad I was when I first spotted it (which in actual has been operating for 1 mth long, OMG!). It brought me surprise during my first visit there!

The interior decoration is just plain simple.

Japin @ Queensbay

Shichimi Teriyaki Don (Spicy Teriyaki Chicken with Rice) RM12.80 + RM1.80 (for adding soup + tea)

I know several guys who will choose no other dishes but THIS whenever they visit Japin! (Circled in red is ‘Beh Khi” item – miso soup)

Cyasyu Cyahan (Fried Garlic Rice) RM6.80+RM1.80 (for adding soup + tea).

I started to appreciate more on this dish after having the garlic rice cooking experience at the Sakae Izakaya .

The fried garlic rice here is fragant, big in serving and I especially like it for being non-oily, at least during the moment I eat! [...]

Inaka @ Pulau Tikus

I have been to this Inaka many times. This time there is a lot different as it’s a GROUP of us with cameras on hands.

Left : Shiro Maguro (white tuna) RM22.00. Right : Scallop RM25.00
The waitress was really compromising us, by asking the chef to cut the sashimi into 7 pcs so that each of us got one piece, fair enough.

Spiderman Ramen RM15.00 . This is a flavourful dish that everyone likes. It’s spicy.

Teppan Seafood RM26.90

Yaki Udon RM13.00

Inaka Bento A (Chicken, Salmon, Tempura (tempura flour)) RM26.90 . The grilled salmon is well done, everyone of us likes it.

Inaka Bento D (cod fish teriyaki, beef roll, fried prawn (bread crumb) RM28.90

Duck Satay (5 sticks/plate) RM15.00 . I wouldn’t have guessed this is duck if I was not told beforehand. The mayonaisse is a bit over.

Yaki Soba RM13.00. This is the worst dish of the day! The sauce is too sweet+too sour!

King Prawn Roll RM20.90 . If the mango slice could be thicker then it would be more satisfying!

TAO Authentic Asian Cuisine & Lounge @ E-Gate

It’s been 3 years since my last visit to Tao @ TAO at Autocity (Part II -food).

A total of 7 pax for my farewell @ TAO this round.

All-You-Can-Eat Ala-Carte Buffet (from 130 items) Lunch (available from Mon-Fri only) 36++. Dinner 50++

(I17) Sashimi Moriawase. Luckily got Mr.Wet who managed to finish up the squid that none of us likes.

(A1) Abalone . I prefer this mild (without too much sauce) one to the one served at Haven Delight @ Times Square.

(H3) Unagi Mushi Tofu . Haha!! No way to order one big piece of grilled eel. You ought to order either this, or unagi temaki below, or unagi that comes with rice.

(D4) Crab meat with Cheese

(E11) Motoyaki Cheese Mayo . This seems to be less attractive than the ones we ordered from old menu. It’s the sauce, perhaps?!.

The papaya salmon in the old menu is no longer available. Argh!

(A2) Maguro Tataki . Hidden below is the smoked tuna.

(E13) Saba Shioyaki . Very rich creamy and slightly salty.

(E2) Salmon Hiroyaki . Lightly- grilled salmon.

(E8) Teppan Salmon . Too garlicky.

(E6) Lamb Teriyaki . Very tender!! One can easily finish off this plate by himself.

(D12) Ko Ebi . Small crab + small prawn = Very good leh! Eating for FUN!

(D2) Tosa Tofu

(G8) Age Gyoza . Another surprise! I like it being original and nothing much added.

(A8) Edamame . Without salt tastes better! We couldn’t have enough of it!

New menu doens’t have PURE miso soup, but chicken miso sort of and other choices.
