A group of us has finally gathered at 43 Cafe on one Sunday evening before September. This is a small cafe run by the house owner at its house compound.

Tomato plum, hot ginger tea and  iced white coffee.

Egg pecah toast – a bit spicy.

Soup of the day.  Garlic bread and mushroom soup.

MeetFresh 鲜芋仙

30 May

Finally last month only I got to try out MeetFresh.  *Yah, open so long already. Very outdated hor?! *

Hmm……I found that the portion could be a bit too much for individual consumption.

The best way I guess is to have friends get-together there so that each one can get to try out more varieties.

Meet Fresh Signature Herbal Jelly 仙草冻+ 仙草冰沙+ 芋圆 (RM6.90 nett)

Taro balls (芋圆). Herbal Jelly ( 仙草). Shaved Ice (冰沙).

Taro balls could be very filling, mind you. A really signature dish which one must not miss out!

The ice is delicately shaved.

Tofu Pudding with Pearl (RM5.00 nett)

Phew! The pearls made me really full! This is no longer dessert. It’s a meal!

Herb Milk Tea with Herb 仙草鲜奶冻 (RM4.90 nett)

I like its Herbal Jelly. It’s very toin-toin! Somemore cheaper than Chatime! :)

Delicious of Straits Quay Maintaining Its Standard

9 Sep

It was eve of Merdeka Day. With advanced booking also we need to queue up in order to get into the restaurant at 1pm sharp! :)  Just imagine how popular this restaurant is among the Penangites now!

We consisted of ~16pax were there for a short gathering.  Mind you, due to the mess in handling the kids and also busy on catching up with each other, I only managed to snap some of the dishes ordered.

Pan Seared Cod Fish  RM48.90++

Their pan seared cod fish tasted good with the accompanied sweet and sourish sauce, not too overwhelming.  The texture of the cod fish was cooked till just nice, not too dry and thus maintaining its firmness. I would consider this dish as a worthy meal with big serving portion. As you can see here, a lot of  fried potato cubes were there too. :)

English Fish N Chip (RM29.90++)

I was also satisfied with their Fish n Chip. Hidden inside the thin crispy layer was white juicy fish fillet.  The most important thing is that I didn’t feel oily at all. It appears to be so healthy, if minus out the fries and mayonnaise!  :)

Mushroom Soup (RM13.90++)

Blended mushrooms were tasted in every scoop.

The rest of the dishes did not receive any complaints too! Therefore I would assume that we have chosen a restaurant that served all good and right if forget about the price! Ha! :p [...]

Are we the only Hokkien-speakings at Delicious Straits Quay? *LOL*

26 May

*Follow up post at Delicious of Straits Quay Maintaining Its Standard. *

“Oh…..No wonder lah!” This is the expression when I finally saw this line “A subsidiary of Eastern & Oriental Berhad” when browsing the menu.

Why why why?

When I was at a food review session the other day, this “Delicious” term caught my attentio, not only because it was mentioned repetitiously but also because of this  keng one,” Aiyoh, if you think of eating the desserts at C* Brown, you might as well going to Delicious loh, same amount of spending, lagi TATT!” .

This amount of people during a WORKING monday at ~2pm should be considered “good business” already kua! This is neither FIZ nor town area oh.

but then when I looked around, I saw mostly are foreigners (guess ’second-home’?!) and very elegantly dressed locals. :)

“Ei, do you think that we are the only table speaking Hokkien ah?” :p

“May be loh!” *followed by LOL*

Lemonade from the Front Lawn RM9.90++ — Wowo! Super sour!

Hot Honey Lemon RM5.90++ — See? Got biscotti somemore!

Mascarpone Pesto Chicken served with Fried Potatoes and Asparagus RM39.90++

Big serving indeed! Half the chicken is in this plate already. Add on the potatoes somemore! Not full yet?  You must be kidding! [...]
